One of my favorite things about photography is the ability a photo has to evoke emotion. Maybe you were there, maybe you weren't. Either way, the right photo can pull you into a moment that was.
I love photographs that tell a story, ones where you can actually feel what you see.
I think you can feel a lot from these black and white photos.
I photographed this game. It was an intense Division II District Final soccer game between the St. Marys Lady Riders and the Shawnee Indians on a cold, rainy day. Tied at 0 throughout and overtime seeming imminent, the Indians scored with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The Lady Riders could not get the equalizer.
I love the vibe these photos are giving. The blacks, whites and grays suit the mood of that moment in time.
"And if it looks like we were scared to death, like a couple of kids just tryna save each other, you should've seen it in color. Yeah a picture's worth a thousand words, but you can't see what those shades of gray keep covered. You should've seen it in color."
